Could You Make It Shallow So That I Can Feel The Rain…

it’s been a heart-wrenching couple of weeks, but, despite my best efforts, the inevitable draws ever nearer. my trusty Sony Vaio VGN-FS550 has set it’s affairs in order, notified next of kin and all but shed a teary, blue-screened goodbye before finally resting with his forefathers: deep in the heart of a sandy landfill.

my Vaio has been my faithful right-hand man lo these many years. now, with his inner organs deteriorating from the ‘after-three-years-windows-sets-itself-on-fire’ disease, i am left with a few key decisions to make.

first, will i gently and mercifully lay my laptop to rest before the final circuitry lock-up…or will i get him back on the horse and force him to gallop alongside of me at breakneck speed until his neck actually is broken (i realize i have a lot of mixed and varied metaphors…try to keep up)?

i have to say that at this point i am not ready to give up. believe me, i can’t wait to get my next laptop, but i’m not that excited about the expense that comes along with it.

my second option is type of burial…do i give it a literal viking funeral in homage to Microsoft’s self-immolation, or do i give it a more Indiana Jonsian burial by putting it in some attic storage, never to be seen again? DECISION 2007!

so, though this is not the official burial of the Vaio, it is the official obituary. if you have any fond memories or statements regarding my grey and black friend, now is the time to share.

i can’t wait…

I always hated the Vaio… but I do love Dave Matthews… So… there.

Wow… can you imagine actually saying that in a eulogy?

Oh, and I didn’t even look at that “screen capture” until after I left the previous comment. That’s golden. Unfortunately, “Clippy the Clip” has also found a home in the Mac-friendly MS Office… and no matter how many times I tell him he’s not welcome he keeps coming in and offering to mop floors, cook mac n’ cheese, and rearrange my furniture. I dislike him.

It is time my friend, I did it this summer and you must do it now. Join the family. It is well worth the cost.

As a member of vaio’s family, I bid him a hearty hey and a well met good fellow. He will be sorely missed.
