Do I Really Have To Vote For One Of Them?
election season is upon us and i would be remiss to not comment on it here and there. after all…kelly and i are still paying for my very distinguished political science degree.
and by distinguished i mean my ultimately completed and impressively neglected political science degree.
but, in all honesty, it’s hard to think about the upcoming presidential election without thinking about how inadequate the myriad of serious contenders is.
so, last week i decided i should begin a segment about the coming vote. after soliciting my thoughtful friend casey, i had a name for my segment, the name you see above this entry: Do I Really Have To Vote For One Of Them?
those are my sentiments exactly. do i really have to vote for one of these candidates? now, some of you may be thinking; “no gene, you don’t have to vote for one of the front runners, you can instead vote for one of the niche, fringe candidates that can not possibly win…ever.”
to that i say…to me, voting for a person that can not physically win is just not acceptable, personally, in my little brain. i mean, if i was voting for one of those hopeless fellows, i might as well vote for Franklin Graham or Chuck Smith or Jerry Seinfeld. i mean, if I am going to vote then it should be for someone who might have a semblance of a chance. now, if people want to vote on ‘principle’ to ‘send a message’ then i applaud that and have no problem with that. i simply don’t think it is a responsible choice in my own voting habits.
that said…i look at the field and am sorely disappointed at the squad. so, the following posts will be a satirical and disheartening look at the november to come. enjoy.

ON THE LEFT -
From an email forward:
Who said this?
(1) “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”
(2) “It’s time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, and for the few, and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity.”
(3) “(We) can’t just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people.”
(4) “We have to build a political consensus, and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own turf in order to create this common ground.”
(5) “I certainly think the free-market has failed.”
(6) “I think it’s time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in (the) entire economy – that they are being watched.”
Now you might think these were the famous words of the Father of communism, Karl Marx.
And you would be on the right track in thinking so.
But you would be wrong.
These pearls of socialist/Marxist wisdom are from none other than our very own, home-grown presidential front runner: Mrs. Hillary Clinton.
