Positive Post Tuesday
today’s positive post is firmly political…just not in the regular, angry-blogger sort of way.
no, today’s positive political post is different.
this is a picture of one of my good friends shaking hands with senator john mccain.
see:
today i’d like to recognize Christians who get involved, even if simply by voting, in the political process of the united states.
unfortunately, Christians have the corner on division. even politically. we divide over issues, we divide over candidates, we divide over methods, we divide over statements, we divide over policies, we divide, divide, divide.
in the mean time we live under a government that allows us to get involved in the way things are done. we’re allowed to be daniels in this nation. we’re provided opportunity to be like shadrach, meshach or abed-nego.
not everyone is called by God to work deep within american politics, some are, but we all get a chance to do something. casting a vote can make a difference for Jesus Christ. my one vote can be like one of the 5 loaves and 2 fish that He used to work a miracle. thus, we should seek God on how He would have us interact with our government, with our elections, with our candidates.
legislation can’t save a nation. politics can’t redeem a life. but, our involvement in our wonderfully free society is a precious part of our life as Christians in america; one we shouldn’t scoff at or ignore.
i believe that God can send revival to our country. i’d like to be a part of it if He does. should He determine to do so through the political process, praise the Lord. if not, i can still bring my relationship with Jesus Christ into the voting booth and, in that place, stand for all that He has done for me, and all that He desires to do for the world.
