Tis The Season

listen in

at the pensiero house we love christmas music.

in fact, we start listening to holiday carols and merry tunes on October 1st.

but, here’s the thing…despite the fact that we’ve been growing our christmas music catalog for a few years now, we still feel like we’re missing out on some gems, we just don’t know what they are.

some of our very favorite christmas offerings are:

Ella Wishes You A Swingin’ Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Wintersong
Christmas With The Rat Pack
Songs For Christmas (sufjan stevens)
The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra Presents: Classical Christmas

now, beyond those we have other stuff, just nothing that’s blowing our minds.

so, here’s the deal, we need to know what christmas albums you love.

give me 1 or 2 or 50. we just want to know. because we love christmas music. and we’ve already been listening to it for 25 days.

help me and the mrs (and baby p) out. leave your suggestions in the comments.

Sixpence None The Richer and Jars Of Clay both released really good Christmas albums last year.

And Handel’s Messiah will always reign in the Mundy house.

  3. we too love listening to christmas tunes… i try to keep myself away from it in october since its my birthday month :) but i cant help but bust it out in november!! (and i still get ridiculed by my family that i am pulling it out too early!!) i am excited to try some of your guys’ favorites, because we are definitely in need of some more music too. right now we only have 10 hours, 36 minutes, and 24 seconds worth of holiday music, and when you are playing it practically 24-7, you need more than that! with that being said, here are some of our favorites.

i must first make a disclaimer. i am a proud lover of ALL christmas music, which includes the cheesy, cliche, and silly kind of christmas music. in fact, two of my favorite albums have always been and will continue to be amy grants’ albums. why? because they remind me of being a little girl and having christmas tree decorating parties at our house with my family. i guess for me it’s a little nostalgic. ok… so now that i’ve made myself clear, here are some of our favorite albums.

a christmas to remember – amy grant
home for christmas – amy grant
christmas classics – burl ives & others
christmas eve & other stories – trans-siberian orchestra
    christmas extraordinaire – mannheim steamroller
let it snow – michael buble
    noel – josh groban
tchaikovsky: the nutcracker – peter ilyich tchaikovsky
    …and last but not least…
these are the special times – celine dion (if you can get over the celine issues that most people have).

also, one of our favorite SONGS we downloaded a couple years ago is “carol of the bells” by the bird and the bee. if you have not heard it, you’ve gotta look it up. it is so cute!

we also love taylor swifts’ version of silent night… liked it so much we decided to do that version at church at our christmas service!

for curiosities sake, i think you should post how many days worth of christmas music your family currently has in your iTunes… maybe christmas music should become a weekly post… like you post of your favorite albums or songs of the week. that is definitely a series i would to follow! :)

@rachel trigueiro – currently, we are sitting with 1 day, 3 hours, 59 minutes and 16 seconds of christmas music in iTunes. thanks for asking.

as for the weekly post…i will do some brain-tinkering and try to figure out a way of doing it. after all, i need additional post ideas, plus, i’m GUARANTEED at least 2 readers!

  5. awesome!! looking forward to it! maybe we can all start our own little series… you, kelly, luke… i would be down too! seems fun :)

amazing that you have an entire day in iTunes. looks like james and i have some catching up to do. :)

i also meant to say that my mom has the martina mcbride christmas album and it’s a really good one too!
