when i read God’s Word i am usually drawn more toward devotional insights than i am plain exegesis or even doctrine. i love exegesis. i love doctrine. they are wonderfully necessary. however, when i’m just reading the Bible, i am most blessed and encouraged, most challenged and rebuked, by devotional insights.
